IMPORTANT MILESTONES

      September 7^th, 1970: Established from an editorial department of the Radio "Voice of Vietnam".

      1976: Separated from the Radio "Voice of Vietnam" and set up at a new location

      April 30^th 1987: Officially named Vietnam Television

      January 1st, 1990: Initial parallel broadcast of 2 channels: VTV1 and VTV2

      February 1991: Starting satellite transmission for VTV1 to enable relays by provincial TV stations for a national coverage.

      April 1995: Starting VTV3 program, which became a separate channel and satellite broadcast on  March 1998.

      April 27^th, 2000: VTV4 was officially launched on a global network via 3 satellites with footprints on all Asia, Europe, North Africa, North America and North Western Australia.

      March 2001: DVB-T was officially adopted as standard for terrestrial digital broadcast by VTV

      February 10^th, 2002: Starting VTV5 targeted at  ethnic minority groups and in their dialects

      October 2004: DTH network was officially launched in parallel with the cable TV and MMDS services.

      September 2005: Broadband internet was introduced in the DTH and Cable TV network.
